York Apple

Chance seedling - developed in 1820 on a farm near York, PA by Jonathan Jessop, a Quaker nurseryman. Taken from grafts of a tree from John Kline's farm in Hellam, PA, this apple was first known as "Jonathan's Fine Winter".

Slightly tart, firm, crisp and juicy. Best for pies, sauce and baked.
